DUBROVNIK

Dubbed the "Pearl of the Adriatic," the beautiful city of Dubrovnik offers a wealth of tourist attractions for visitors to explore. Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century and has been ruled through the centuries by the Venetians and the Hungarians, each of which have left their mark. The city enjoyed its greatest growth in the 15th and 16th centuries, a fact reflected in the impressive architecture and its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Popular for its spectacular seafront location on the Dalmatian Coast, coupled with its evocative and historic Old Town district, Dubrovnik is home to Croatia's artistic and intellectual elite and offers numerous cultural activities and festivals.Highlights of a visit include walking around its picturesque old streets and alleys while visiting such excellent attractions as its splendid cathedral and treasury, the broad Stradun pedestrian walkway, and its many fine old palaces and fortifications. To find out more about the many fun things to do and the best sightseeing opportunities in this amazing city, be sure to read through our list of the top tourist attractions in Dubrovnik.

The Elaphiti Islands

The Elaphites are a small archipelago Northwest of Dubrovnik. It consists of a total of 13 islands and islets of which only 3 are inhabited. The name, Elaphite islands, was first mentioned in the 1st century! in the work "Naturalis Historia" by the Roman philosopher Gaius Plinius Secundus, also known as Pliny the Elder. The name comes from the Ancient Greek word elaphos (deer) which used to inhabit the islands.

Island of Mljet, one of the most beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean.  Untouched nature, the island's mysticism, olive groves, vineyards and rich forests are ideal places to research the rich flora and fauna, and to peacefully enjoy the pristine beauty of the natural surroundings.Mljet National Park makes up most of the island, and there are several villages, two salt water lakes - Veliko and Malo jezero, and a Benedictine monastery on the island of sv. Marija [St. Mary] . In Polače there are some of the best natural anchorages in the Adriatic.Preserved from the Illyrian period, there are many fortifications and tombs, and the best preserved are those on the hill of Veliki Gradac, Veliko jezero and the fortress at Vodice, above the water source at Vodice at Babino Polje. The Roman Palace, which is the largest after Diocletian’s Palace in Split and the Arena in Pula, is a part of the valuable heritage of the island of Mljet.

Island Lastovo

The island of Lastovo is the most southern island in the Adriatic Sea. It was due to its landscape value, the natural wealth of flora and fauna, the clean sea and an interesting cultural and historical heritage with its archipelago, that the island was proclaimed the Nature Park. Number 46 represents the number of islands, islets, rocks and reefs around the island, and the number of fields and churches on the island. It is interesting that there are no dangerous or poisonous animals on the island so you can walk fearlessly through the fields or over the hills and enjoy the nature’s beauty

Korčula it  island  where is birth Marco Polo

For a second, you might think you have arrived in the much more famous Dubrovnik, not Korčula. That’s how similar the two are. The biggest difference is that the narrow alleys in the old town of Korčula are still fairly free of travellers. If you fancy a swim, you can dip in from the small beach in the middle of the town. The countryside beyond the town awaits with its vineyards, olive groves and coves with turquoise sea. It is a miracle how the amazing Korčula has managed to stay a secret.Cathedral of Saint Mark is a significant attraction in this lively city. Drop by and discover why it's such a crowd-pleaser.If you lose track of where you are, simply look out for Large Governor's Tower, a towering landmark in the vicinity. After you're done with the more well-known museums, you could check out what's on at Bishop's Treasury.Visitors like to take part in guided tours of Marco Polo Birth House, a memorable historic residence.
